If you end up deciding to go to university in Kentucky, the state could become - to paraphrase the famous song - your new Kentucky home. Nicknamed the "Bluegrass State," Kentucky's state motto is "United We Stand, Divided We Fall," and it became a state in 1792.
'Kentucky' means "Land of Tomorrow" in Iroquois, which seems like a promising welcome for any new students who have moved to the state! The capital is Frankfort, and its biggest city is Louisville.
True to its musical heritage, Kentucky has not one, but two state songs - "My Old Kentucky Home," and an office bluegrass song, "Blue Moon of Kentucky." The state flower is the goldenrod. And you might be interested to learn that Kentucky even has a statewide tug-of-war championship, which they have proudly held since 1990.
