Digital Photography Classes - Learning Digital Photography

Digital Photography Classes Digital photography classes are classes that teach you how to take pictures using digital cameras, help you gain exposure to the different types of digital cameras and equipment, and teach you how to edit and process digital images.

Digital Photography Classes vs. Regular Photography

In traditional photography, you use a camera to capture an image on film. Basically, light enters through the lens of your camera and hits the film, which had been treated with special chemicals to record the image you see through the viewfinder. Therefore, in a regular photography class, you spend a great deal of your time learning about how to treat the film with the chemicals that will develop the film. You learn how to use a darkroom and you learn about the different types of film and paper used in traditional photography.

In digital photography classes, however, there is no film to deal with. Because digital cameras record the images onto a memory card, you will learn how to access these saved images and then how to manipulate these images on the computer. In digital photography classes, you'll also learn how to print these images from the computer. Instead of spending your days in a darkroom, you'll be in a computer lab.

The Outlook for Digital Photography

The outlook for digital photography is very good. In fact, digital photography seems to be the direction photography is headed. According to a San Francisco Chronicle article by Ben Dobbin dated October 27, 2004, one photographic materials company is shutting down some of it's traditional photo labs, "reflect[ing] declining demand for traditional in favor of digital products." Clearly this represents a significant shift in photo technology.

The demand for people with skills in the area of digital photography is swiftly increasing, so the time is now for you to investigate digital photography classes.
